During Liberia’s civil war, from 1989-2003, an estimated two out of three women were raped. Sexual violence did not end when the fighting stopped.
Dr. Monika Hauser founded the international organization Medica Mondiale to support traumatized women and girls living in conflict zones. She shares her experiences from a recent visit to Liberia and the work Medica Mondiale is doing to hold the justice system accountable for prosecuting cases of sexual violence.
