Italian Photo Project Bridges Divides

The Italian town of Bassano del Grappa sits in a northeastern region that has seen rising political tensions surrounding its large immigrant population. To encourage a dialogue, a photography project brought together local people over the age of 65 with children from immigrant families. Reporter Dany Mitzman visited Bassano to see how the project works.

The project will be running in two other Italian towns this spring. And they have tentative plans to adapt the idea for communities in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Israel.
