It’s a craze that has swept big cities around the world in recent years. From New York to Tokyo, LA to Hong Kong, an obsession with sneakers has gripped urban youth. They call themselves “sneakerheads” and they spend big bucks to get their hands (and feet) on the latest limited edition releases from Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Puma and the rest. In Mexico City, sneaker fever arrived a bit later. But now Mexico City is home to several serious collectors whose addiction has led them to buy hundreds of pairs of sneakers. Grant Fuller tracked down a few of them. Here’s his story.
